I think this conneciton should exist   

Pat Dorsey goes through the super classic stuff (discounted cash flows, economic moat, margin of safety, etc.) where the tools you need to use are basically Excel. There's ways to leverage Machine Learning to pick stocks too.

For investing, and if you have more time and want to understand discounted cash flows, this book is quite good. To apply it you'll need to use a spreadsheet and dig into the financial statements though. It's a bit theoretical in that all stocks have to be valued with discounted cash flows.
